Heartbreaking: Three SS2 students who sneaked out of their school drowned today while swimming in a river with friends in Enugu (photos)

A 12-year-old boy, identified as Lekan Benjamin drowned at the Asa River in Ilorin, Kwara state while swimming with his friends. 

It was gathered that Lekan a Junior Secondary School student went swimming with some of his classmates while returning from school, when he drowned.

The Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Falade Olumuyiwa who confirmed the incident in a statement described the incident as unfortunate.

He noted that at about 13:21hrs on Tuesday,, the State Fire Service attended to the scene, at Ejiba Road, off Stadium road, Ilorin.

The victim was however recovered dead from the river by the firemen and handed over to his biological father, Mr Monday Benjamin.

Olumuyiwa (CFO) consoled the family of the victim and advised parents to watch over their children’s movement in order to prevent future similar occurrences
